Nobody pays to be on here

There is no membership fee, no enhanced entry and nothing to buy. Order inside a filter is alphabetical, which is the whole algorithm, and it costs us the only revenue a directory normally has.

We say who is full until March

Half the use of a register is knowing who cannot help you this side of the spring. Lead times are printed as the yard gives them, even where an honest fourteen weeks loses that firm the job.

We visit, but not everywhere

An audited entry means one of us has stood in the workshop and looked at the machinery. About a third of the register is qualification-checked only, and it says so on the card rather than implying a visit we never made.

Upheld complaints stay on the entry

Where a dispute goes against a listed firm the entry carries it for two years. Eleven firms have left the register over this and two of them were people we liked.
